There are several authors whose new releases I am always on the lookout for in the bookstore or online. Web of Lies is the fourth and final book in the Hidden Faces series by Brandilyn Collins. Without fail Brandilyn Collins delivers the strongest book of this series. Web of Lies is definitely a fan-pleaser as Brandilyn unites forensic artist Annie Kingston along with another one of her heroines, Chelsea Adams of the Eyes of Elisha series.
Brandilyn calls to her books “seatbelt suspense.” The novel literally opens with a bang, as Annie and her sister witness a shooting. The shooting incident turns out to be more than a typical convenience store robbery. One bizarre finding after another eventually leads to the infamous Chelsea Adams contacting Annie out of the blue. Chelsea has caught the attention of the media in past about her visions. Trying to live a normal life out of the spotlight, God sends Chelsea another vision to her dismay. It become imperative for Chelsea to share the vision with Annie. The two women meet face to face so Annie can sketch the face in Chelsea’s vision. With two people’s lives on the line, a lack of support from the police and and an unknown killer spinning a web of evil, Chelsea and Annie must depend on their faith like never before.
I have had the opportunity to read the entire Hidden Faces series, which I highly recommend! Each book is a stand-alone, but reading the series from the first to the fourth is quite a treat. Web of Lies is by far the most intense and fan pleasing of the series. Annie Kingston is a well-developed character. The author draws the reader deep into the career of a forensic artist through Annie’s thoughts and actions. I have enjoyed reading about Annie’s growth as a new Christian throughout the series. There is a consistent, but not preachy message of how important prayer is in the area of spiritual warfare.
I have not read the Eyes of Elisha series, but after “meeting” Chelsea Adams from this novel, I will be on the lookout for that series on the shelf. Brandilyn skillfully combines these two strong female characters through their faith.
