Sensing the awesome purpose God has for Chance, Lynn is determined to help him find personal healing from his pain.
Travis Everett is a newspaper reporter who longs to make the front page. When Travis’ nephew is healed by Chance, the unscrupulous reporter sees a career boosting opportunity. Dubbing Chance, “Brother Word”, Travis’ sets out to prove the healings are all apart of a fraud. Travis gets more than he bargains for as he pursues Chance across the country.
Brother Word was a delight to read for me especially since most of it takes place in very familiar territory, South Carolina, where I reside. I like how Derek Jackson chooses to teach and remind readers about the gift of healing through the Christian fiction platform. Many modern day Christians don’t really give much thought to gifts they see as being only applicable during the early church. There is a valuable lesson about using your God-given gifts and understanding our gifts are for the church as a whole.
Derek Jackson has been described as quite a phenomenon in the world of multicultural Christian fiction which is largely dominated by female writers. Derek brings a refreshing side to male characters by given the male’s point of view a more authentic voice. I have not read Derek’s first two novels, Destiny’s Cry and A Man Inspired, but I’m looking forward to catching up.
