BOOK REVIEW | Waking Lazarus

Two books I have read this summer have become my top reads for the year. They both are very different, but have a few things in common. They both were released in July and then both are first novels. I’m always intrigued by an author who can deliver an unforgettable novel on the first time out. I’m reviewing the first one in this blog entry and will share the next one later this week.
WAKING LAZARUS by T.L. Hines (has a great blog) has been on my radar for quite some time. I receive quite a few books in the mail and this was one I had been looking forward to reviewing. The opening line alone is enough to make your nerves tingle with anticipation.
The first time Jude Allman died, he was eight years old.

To the surprise of many people, eight year old Jude returns from the dead. This won’t be the first time Jude dies and returns back to life either. His resurrections have made him quite famous over the years. Determined to escape the spotlight and hang on to his remaining insanity, Jude becomes a hermit in a small Montana town called Red Lodge. The only problem with Jude’s hiding place, something evil has also chosen Red Lodge as home. Children are being snatched from the small town at an alarming rate.
A knock on Jude’s door one night crashes his long-time security from the outside world. Now he must face the mystery behind his deaths. Once he does, he becomes the only one who can save Red Lodge’s children.
All Christian authors included under the suspense thriller genre have their own unique style of entertaining the reader. T.L. Hines has definitely arrived on the scene marking out his own territory. The reader will definitely be drawn to Jude’s unique personality as well as his peculiar ability. When he breaks through his fog and embraces the “gift” he has been given, it’s a breakthrough that rings true in real life. I’m definitely looking forward to T.L. Hines next offering!
