National Novel Writing Month

I read about National Novel Writing Month late last year and signed up for a reminder email on the site. Since I’ve been a little slack about writing, I figured I would try to sign-up to join in the fun. Starting November 1st, I will be cranking out ideas for the second book in my book series. It will be a good way to see how I do with seat-of-your-pants writing. On my first WIP, I have been painstakingly plotting that book chapter by chapter. I kind of like the plotting aspect because it is a suspense novel, but in some ways I wonder if I’m bogging myself down with details too soon –especially for a first draft.

Here is some more information about this writing adventure:

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

Sign-ups begin October 1, 2006. To be added to the official list of winners, you must reach the 50,000-word mark by November 30 at midnight. Once your novel has been verified by our web-based team of robotic word counters, the partying begins.
