Seventy Times Seven
by Brandt Dodson
Private Detective Colton Parker is hired by wealthy businessman Lester Cheeks. Lester has acquired almost everything he has wanted in life except for solid, intimate relationships. A bit on the geek side for most of his life, Lester has never fit in socially with people, which makes him one unlikable man. With his wife Claudia by his side people tolerate Lester. When Claudia disappears, poor Lester is beside himself and determined to locate the love of his life.
Parker must find a woman who clearly has left her husband and home on her own. As he peeks into the couple’s life, in particular, Lester’s business dealings, Parker checks out a trail of enemies. Has Lester angered business associates to the extent where they would harm the most precious person in his life?
In the midst of his search, Parker continues to struggle with his personal life. Being a single dad to his thirteen year old daughter is wearing him down especially since she blames him for her mother’s death. Parker is not particular sure whether or not he should blame himself.
As the threads of the case unravel at warp speed, Parker will find himself learning more about himself that he could ever imagine. Revenge and unforgiveness are definitely a dangerous combination.
The character Colton Parker first appeared in the book Original Sin. Dodson did an outstanding job switching back and forth from the character’s tough investigative role to a father longing for a healed relationship with his daughter. The strong character development made the former FBI agent turned private investigator a very likable character. Having a law enforcement background himself, the author created a very believable, but entertaining plot full of twists. One twist in particular will really engross readers further into the storyline, intensify the reading experience until the conclusion.
The third book in the Colton Parker Mystery series, The Root of Evil, is in stores now.
