Crimson Eve

While showing a home, realtor Carla Radling finds her potential buyer charming in a James Bond sort of way. Carla is ecstatic that someone finally is interested in the dead actress’ property. After all, who really wants to live in the home of a murdered person. To her surprise, Carla’s “English man” pulls a gun on her. She’s not sure why someone has sent an assassin after her, but she barely escapes with her life.
Leaving her beloved Kanner lake and all the people she loves, Carla fights to remain alive. In the midst of her plight, she examines her past, recalling the one person who would want her dead. Carla has a secret that could destroy the political career of a future presidential candidate. Will ambition win out? Carla’s assassin definitely has no plans to give up, pushing Carla to the brink of despair.
Crimson Eve, the third book in the Kanner Lakes series is noticeably different from the first two books. For one, there is not a dead person in the first chapter. Some readers may have found the first two books creepy. Compared to the first two, this novel is more character driven.
Up until this point, Carla has been mainly viewed as a patron at the famous Java Joint. Even the citizens of Kanner Lake don’t know much about her other than her participation with the Java Joint blog. Readers will find themselves pulling for Carla as her past unfolds in between being on the run. The author developed her characters so well, at times the reader may even feel sorry for the assassin. Now that’s awesome character development!
I’m not sure which one of the three books thus far are my favorite. The fourth and final book, Amber Morn, will be released March 2008. Read about the entire Kanner Lake series at KannerLake.com.
