BOOK REVIEW | Ripple Effect
Ripple Effect
by Paul Mccusker
I don’t generally read young adult books, but the title and the book cover caught my attention. Ripple Effect is the first book in the Time Thriller Trilogy. It opens with best friends, Elizabeth and Jeff, having a conversation, or rather Elizabeth is venting about her parents while her friend listens. When she suggests running away, Jeff thinks his dramatic friend has taken things a little too far, but he needs to figure out a way to talk Elizabeth out of her crazy plan.

In a recent online marketing workshop, I discussed the need to take advantage of online opportunities. Some of these ventures may require costs, while others are free. I will layout both options further down. The most important factor with online promotion is time management. You don’t want to start too early, but you certainly don’t want to wait until the last minute. Read more

“I want to write a book.” How many times have you heard someone make that statement? Maybe it’s one of your deepest desires in life. For me, I had a mid-thirties moment. It wasn’t anything major like a mid-life crisis where one loses their senses. This was more of a clarifying moment in my life where I believe God planted a few seeds.

I Like The Blood-Red Pencil
Okay, I didn’t care too much for getting my essays or other papers back with red marks, but I don’t have anything against the red pen or pencil. I actually keep several around when I’m revising my chapters. I discovered that the revision part of the writing process is actually the best part. The hard part is getting the story down. Once you have the story, print out your hard copy, sit back with a red pen or pencil and let your characters start talking.
A few weeks ago, I discovered The Blood-Red Pencil blog. Several editors guest blog, leaving their various tips and sometimes gripes about the editing process. I encourage you to subscribe.
Blogging on Twitter – Fast & Easy!
This morning I feel yucky in the throat area. As I sit with my lemon tea, I thought I would add an update about my writing ventures. I seem to have taken to the micro-blogging on Twitter more so than actually blogging. The 140 character limit is very encouraging. Plus you get more feedback. LOL!
ROMANTIC SUSPENSE. My manuscript When Rain Falls is officially with my editor, Robin Caldwell (jstandard on Twitter). She’s been a great encouragement to me the past few years and I’m looking forward to her edits on my first attempt at Romantic Suspense. It only took me two and half years to get the plot together. I learned a lot about writing from that novel and had definite sense of “sweetness” when I finally typed THE END.

I decided to sign-up to read Field of Blood by Eric Wilson. There was a time I was really into vampire movies, so I’m curious to see how he incorporates this legend into a Christian fiction novel. Look for my review soon.
