New Year’s Eve – What are your writing goals?
New Year’s Eve is officially here. I’ve had the opportunity to be off from the regular routine for the past two weeks. It was nice to finally relax and take time to be reflective. Even more so, as I mentioned in the previous post, great to get back to writing. As the last day of the year dwindles away, I plan to continue working on a manuscript. Before I jump back into the last few chapters needing edits, I was led to journal about my writing goals.
Countdown to 2010
I hope you had a Blessed Christmas Day with family and friends. It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged on my personal blog. Now that the year is winding down, I’m starting to do a bit more reflection. There are some projects left unfinished and other projects that literally grew and took over my time. I will be spending some time praying over what should be the priorities for 2010. One thing for sure, I need to balance my time in such a way where I can focus back on writing.
This year slipped by with me not submitting any queries to agents or publishers who accepted unagented manuscripts. The timing wasn’t there, but I’m hopeful that 2010 will be a time to step out on the water.
November: National Novel Writing Month and Diabetes Awareness
Did you sign-up for NANOWRIMO this year? I signed up for this event for the past 2-3 years. While I’m itching to start on a new story, I’m determined to put to rest older ones. I finalized the edits for my romantic suspense, When Rain Falls, back in September. Now I need to do the same for my cozy mystery, Deep Fried Trouble (DFT). Read a synopsis below: Read more
Barnes & Noble to Launch Kindle Competitor
As an avid bookworm, I’ve had my eye on an eBook reader for awhile. Still torn between the Kindle and Sony Reader. Now it appears I might want to wait a little longer before I make a purchase.
Barnes & Noble are coming out with their own eReader.
I’m also very curious about this infamous Apple Tablet that might make an appearance in 2010.
Tough being a bookworm and a techie person. So many choices.

Dusting off the manuscript
I’ve had a weird year. I looked at the calendar last week and decided it was time to come out of my period of non-writing. I’ve been knocked back a good bit, keeping me from my goals, but it’s time to dust off the manuscripts.
To kind of help jumpstart me, I decided to finally join Sisters in Crime. Here’s the mission:
"The mission of Sisters in Crime is to promote the professional development and advancement of women crime writers to achieve equality in the industry."
I downloaded the newsletter tonight and will be reading over it the next few days. I’m excited about the organization and I’m looking forward to continuing to grow as a mystery and suspense writer.
I also have become familiar with the characters in my When Rain Falls manuscript. This is the first book in a three-book series, so I’m hoping in a few weeks to work on the outline for the other two books. Ideas are brewing.
