This manuscript is complete and has been edited. First 40 pages won 2nd Place (Novel Category) at the 2007 Blue Ridge Mountain Christian Writers Conference.

Whatever doesn’t kill you, will make you stronger. CANDACE JOHNSON doesn’t care about being strong, but she would like rest for her weary soul. Unresolved issues insist on walking beside her like an unwanted visitor. When a close friend is murdered, Candace is determined to seek justice.

Candace’s quest interferes with DETECTIVE DARNELL JACKSON’s investigation to his angst. Despite his reservations, Darnell becomes increasingly drawn to Candace. When Candace’s life becomes endangered, Darnell must face his inner demons to find a killer.

ANGEL ROBERTS remains haunted by her mother’s disappearance. When her grandmother suffers a medical setback, Angel’s fears intensify. Is the key to what happened to her mother hidden in the depths of her childhood memories?

Usually reserved around men, Angel teams up with investigative reporter, WES CADE. Together Wes and Angel uncover a startling pattern of missing persons over a span of twenty years. She craves the truth, but Wes’ determination to break the story of his career could push Angel over the edge.

Widowed EUGEENA PATTERSON throws herself into organizing the neighborhood association, a good opportunity to get to know new neighbors like recently widowed Amos Jones, until she stumbles upon her estranged neighbor’s dead body. Eugeena’s daughter is fingered as a prime suspect, but where is she?

Determined to find her missing daughter, Eugeena enlists Amos, a retired detective, to help her. The more she searches, the more Eugeena discovers disturbing facts about her daughter’s life. Is her daughter a killer or does someone wants Eugeena to think so?
